An application that deceived more than 10 million users for six years on Google Play

More than 10 million users have been tricked into the Android system through Samsung's fake "Updates for Samsung" update with the Android operating system updates, but in fact redirecting users to a full-featured Web site and paying for updates.

The application benefits from the difficulty of getting operating system updates for Samsung phones, which has led to an increase in the number of users who installed it to about 10 million users. The app has been in existence for more than six years, so a large number of people have installed it.

The application "Updates for Samsung" solves this problem for non-technical users by providing a central location where Samsung phone owners can get updates to their operating systems.

But, this is just a trick. The application, which does not belong to Samsung in any way, only displays a WebView Web page that asks it to pay for the download of the update.

The fake application does not harm users or malicious software, but it exploits users by providing false services for money. Its ultimate goal is to steal users' money only by offering a $ 34.99 offer for all necessary updates and files.

The problem here is that the application violates the Play Store rules and uses its own payment system, instead of using the system provided by the official store, which opens users to intercept their payment data or to register it by a third party rather than through a secure and better protected payment channel From Google.

The application is not harmful in the traditional sense, as it does not cause any harmful actions on behalf of the user, or without his consent. But his best description is "fraudulent."
